   According to Wu Cuiyun, mayor of Dezhou, phased progress has been made for the preparation for 4th International Solar Cities Initiative Congress.

   Emblem, logo, mascot and motto of the event were fixed. Construction of main building for the Congress is on going smoothly. Associated facilities around main building are being constructed in proper order. Wu Cuiyun said “Dezhou people are confident to hold an impressive, successful and practically effective congress, exhibiting to outside world the merit China has achieved in using renewable energy, enabling the rest of world to get to know Dezhou, Shandong China.

   It was reported that China had turned to be the world’s largest solar industry market and largest solar product manufacturing base too.

   By 2008, China has promoted the installation of solar heater of approx. 1,000,000,000,000 sq.m, about 76% of world total, providing hot water to nearly 100,000,000 people of tens of millions of families. China has become “world’s No.1 country in terms of total quantities of solar heaters and solar energy saving and environment protection.” The solar industry provides 600,000 jobs for China, totally replaces conventional energy upto 200,000,000 tons of standard coal, and finally reduces carbon emission by 200,000,000 tons.

   International Solar Cities Congress is an international academic and specialized NGO conference launched and sponsored by ISCI. The Congress is held biannually. The first three sessions of the Congress were held in Deagu Korea, Oxford UK and Adelaide Australia respectively.

   ISCI, founded in 1997, is a 200-member international organization with its headquarter in New York City, USA. Since its establishment, ISCI has become an important platform for government officials, experts and scholars to discuss solar energy comprehensive use and industrial development, to exhibit the latest achievement of research and use of solar energy and to boost environment protection and energy saving industry.
