   Sudden Rise of China’s Solar Industry, Photovoltaic Capacity No.1 in the World
   According to the news provided in the CCTV episode “News 60 Minutes”, solar power proves to be the most prosperous one among various new energy. The recent years saw the sudden rise of China’s solar industry and No.1 position of photovoltaic production capacity in the world. According to China’s “Renewable Energy Development “11th 5-Year Program”, the accumulated installed capacity of solar heater will reach 150,000,000 sq.m, the total installed power capacity 300MW by 2010. The society is marching to a solar power era.
   Dezhou, located on the northwest plain of Shandong Province, is a city with 5.6 million citizens. It is more than more known to people thanks to its solar power industry’s rapid growth. 2010 the 4th International Solar Cities Congress will be held in Dezhou with a motto “Solar Energy Changes Life”.
   Songguangtun in Dezhou Economic Development Zone is an epitome of Dezhou solar power application. After the village’s rehabilitation in 1995, more than 430 families were resettled into wide and bright flat where every family was provided with a solar heater.
   Being a national level model city for renewable energy building application, Dezhou provided strong support to solar industry development and growth. Solar product becomes the association facility in building design.
  The main building where the congress will be held is a solar heating and photovoltaic model building. The building realizes the perfect integration of hot water, heating collection, cooling and photovoltaic generation technology with green building material, the energy consumption of which is only 10% of that for conventional building.
  Lei Jianguo said, “being host city of the congress, in recent years, Dezhou put forward the idea of creating a “China Solar City” development strategy, take solar industry as priority one, launched “one million heaters on roof” and “one thousand bath rooms in villages” program duly constructed according to solar power integration with building design.
  Being a type of low carbon new energy, solar power is booming all over China and more and more popular.
  According to China’s “Renewable Energy Development Program, the accumulated installed capacity of solar heater will reach 150,000,000 sq.m by 2010. Experts predict annual growth rate of solar battery installed capacity is expected to exceed 40%. The annual industrial value of photovoltaic system will be reaching 300,000,000,000 Yuan by 2020.
